Picture the scene: you’ve ordered yourself a McDonald’s and you guzzled your Big Mac/McChicken Sandwich/Filet-O-Fish down so fast, you now don’t have room for all your fries. I mean, I find the idea of having any chips left over absolutely unbelievable myself, but I get it – some people aren’t as greedy as yours truly…
So, when it comes to eating those leftover chips, how are you going to heat them up? I bet you’re planning on microwaving them, aren’t you? Well don’t.
If you microwave your chips, they’ll end up soggy and super-unappealing. The best way to reheat chips to make sure they stay lovely and crispy, is to do it in your oven.
How to reheat chips
Firstly, you want to pre-heat your oven to as hot as it will go. Most ovens go to 250 °c, so that’s ideal.
Now spread your chips across a baking tray in a single layer – overlapping the fries is a no-no as you want the heat to hit every single millimetre of the chip for optimum crisping up. There’s no need to add any oil at this point as your chips will already have oil on them from when they were originally cooked.
Now place them in the oven for around 3 – 5 minutes. Seriously, that’s all it takes: a quick blast in a super-hot oven for a few minutes.
Once the chips come out of the oven, you may fancy giving them a sprinkle of salt, but that’s about all there is to it.
Simple stuff, right?
