From the City of Edgewater:

When: Drop off sticks: Friday, June 18th from 4pm – 6pm, Saturday, June 19th from 10am – 12pm,

Pick-up mulched chips: Sunday, June 20th from 10am – 2pm.

Where: Jefferson Junior/Senior High School Parking Lot (off of 24th Avenue).

Don’t trash those tree trimmings! On June 18th – 20th, the City of Edgewater and Scraps will be hosting a yard waste recycling event to turn sticks and branches into mulch for yards and gardens. Participants who drop-off their branches on Friday and Saturday can swing by on Sunday to collect wood chips from that same debris for their yards!

Mulch is a critical component of all healthy, vibrant yards. It significantly reduces our outdoor water use by limiting surface evaporation, conserving soil moisture and improving water penetration. In Colorado, we lose topsoil at higher rates because of our intense sun, windstorms, and other wild weather. Mulch will help protect the top layer, improve soil nutrients and reduce weed growth. Wood chips should be applied to the yard or garden at a depth of at least 3 inches! Note: avoid adding wood chips to your vegetable garden, instead use straw, leaves, or grass clippings.

Learn more and register here today! This event is free for City of Edgewater Scraps Composting customers, $5 for all other Edgewater residents, and $10 for non-Edgewater residents.  If you would to join Edgewater’s Scraps composing program, you can sign-up here.
