Petro’s Chili & Chips opened Thursday in the former Little Caesar’s Pizza location on U.S. 15-501 in Southern Pines. The menu features the Petro, a unique menu item with a base of chili, Frito chips and toppings that are customizable, plus giant baked potatoes, made-to-order wedge salads, nachos, and 100 percent angus beef hot dogs.
To celebrate the opening, the restaurant is offering half-priced Petro’s July 2 through July 12. Patrons visiting between now and Sunday, July 5, may also enter to win a raffle drawing for 100 free Petro’s for a year.
“We cannot wait to open our doors and share our menu with North Carolina,” said Petro’s owner, Curtis Hale. “It will be love at first bite… guaranteed!”
First emerging over 35 years ago during Knoxville’s 1982 World’s Fair, Petro’s Chili & Chips quickly became a global visitor favorite and remained a hometown hero long after the world went home. Now its fame is crossing state lines and planting new roots in North Carolina. Petro’s novel N.C. location is located conveniently in the heart of bustling Southern Pines off of 15-501 in the location which previously occupied a Little Caesars pizzeria.
“We've been exploring opportunities in North Carolina for several years and were very excited when this space in Southern Pines became available,” Hale said. “We are looking forward to introducing our new neighbors to a delicious and unique brand that caters to many palates and lifestyles.”
With its customizable options, the menu satisfies a variety of lifestyle diets including gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, and ketogenic — to name a few.
