MLB Game Preview & Predictions: Marlins vs. Rays—April 3, 2021 - Fish Stripes

kuaciasing.blogspot.com

Welcome to Saturday’s Marlins (0-2) vs. Rays (2-0) game thread.

To those of you with Twitter accounts, we highly recommend voting for Daniel De Vivo in #MarlinsTwitterMarchMadness. He’s one victory away from an improbable championship round berth.

Fish Picks has indeed returned for a third season! After receiving picks from 200-plus unique users in 2020 on fishstripes.com and the @fishstripes Twitter account, we are aiming for even more engagement. It’s always free to participate and the prizes are real.

Fans can find the props within game threads like this one or as the pinned tweet on our Twitter account. They will be posted at least four hours prior to the game’s scheduled first pitch (assuming both the Marlins and their opponent declare a probable starting pitcher by then). Generally, there will be five props per game, four about individual/team stats and the final one always being the moneyline pick (which team will win). Picks are only valid if commented or tweeted to us prior to first pitch.

Your goal every day is to “pick a perfect game” and choose the correct outcome for each prop. Whoever has the most perfect games each month receives a t-shirt of their choice from our partners at Legends of Dade!

The Fish Picks leaderboard will be updated daily.

Rays Lineup

  1. RF Austin Meadows
  2. LF Manuel Margot
  3. 3B Joey Wendle
  4. 1B Yandy Díaz
  5. CF Kevin Kiermaier
  6. SS Willy Adames
  7. C Mike Zunino
  8. 2B Mike Brosseau
  9. LHP Rich Hill (2020 season stats: 3.03 ERA, 3.99 FIP, 19.9 K%, 29.9 HardHit% in 38.2 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: Austin Meadows has an opportunity to become the first player since Eugenio Suarez (Aug. 26-28, 2019) to homer against the Marlins on back-to-back-to-back days...“There is no scripted plan” for the length of Hill’s outing, but the expectation is that he will be removed earlier than the previous two Rays starters were. Former All-Star Chris Archer will handle the bulk of the relief work.

Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. CF Starling Marte
  3. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  4. RF Garrett Cooper
  5. LF Lewis Brinson
  6. 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  7. 3B Jon Berti
  8. C Chad Wallach
  9. RHP Elieser Hernandez (2020 season stats: 3.16 ERA, 3.89 FIP, 32.1 K%, 38.5 HardHit% in 25.2 IP)
Baseball Savant

Notes: Chad Wallach is the only active Marlins position player who has not appeared in a game yet. He has previously caught Hernandez twice in regular season games, but they’ve never been paired together as starters...On Friday, Anthony Bass allowed a home run on his splitter for the first time since 2017. Bass spoke during spring training about using the pitch more often so hopefully this blip does not discourage him.

How to watch/listen/follow

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET. Watch on Bally Sports Florida...assuming it’s included in your cable package/TV bundle. If not, AT&T TV has a limited time offer through The Streamable to get you hooked up along with a $75 Amazon gift card.

The radio broadcast will air on 940 WINZ.

Louis Addeo-Weiss (@addeo_louis00) will provide credentialed coverage from LoanDepot Park.
