This article is part of a directory: Fae Farm Complete Guide And Walkthrough
Fishing has proven to be a pretty core mechanic in farming sims these days, and Fae Farm delivers on the trend, including a pretty comfortable fishing mechanic in the game. You’ll receive your first fishing rod from Eddy, the eager fisherman in Azoria, and be able to fish all over town for an abundance of different marine life.
From common fish to rare ones you’ll fight to catch, our guide breaks down all the places you can fish in Fae Farm, as well as which fish you can expect to catch in each location at certain times of the year.
This guide is a work in progress - we're working on filling out our Almanac and will update this guide as we catch more fish in Fae Farm.
How To Fish
Fishing is one of the earliest mechanics you'll learn in Fae Farm! During your introductory chapters, the Mayor will send you to speak to Eddy, who can be found outside his fishing shop in Stay-a-While Bay.
Upon speaking to him for the first time, Eddy explains his job as a fisherman and gives you your first fishing rod. To test it out and prove you can fish, he'd like you to catch any fish and bring it back to him.
His shop is right on the water, so head down to the shoreline and cast your rod into the water after selecting it from your tool ring.
When you cast off, you'll see a growing arrow stretching out into the water with a blue bobber. This is your throw distance when you release the button to throw the line.
Once in the water, you'll need to get a fish's attention. You can see the fish in the water, so you won't be casting blind - simply cast into a fish's line of sight.
The fish swim in a predictable pattern, so watch the fish for a moment to work out its pattern before casting to ensure you land the bobber in a good spot.
After your line is cast, wait for a fish to notice it. You can jiggle your lure a bit to catch their attention, and when they've latched on, you'll receive the instruction to hold the button on screen to reel the fish in.
In fact, jiggling the lure a few times is almost a surefire way to get the fish hooked - sometimes, they don't notice a lure right in their path until it jiggles.
But the fish will pull back and put up a fight. If you notice that your line is red and the fish you've hooked has a red cartoonish struggle emoji above its head, ease up on the button for a moment - you'll break your line if it gets too tight!
Once you've gotten the fish dragged back to your farmer, they'll pull the fish from the water.
It goes right into your inventory, and you'll also get a notice that you have a new Almanac entry if it's a fish you're catching for the first time.
Upgrade Your Fishing Rod For Easier Fishing
Like the rest of your tools in Fae Farm, you're able to upgrade your fishing rod as you get better in the Fishing skill.
To do so, save up some Florins and head back to Eddy again. Ask him to open shop when you speak to him, and he'll have a few rods available for purchase.
