Using a bagel as bait, a 13 year old boy named George Gjerdji caught a 20 pound Carp in Central Park on Thursday, the NY Post reports.
George caught the fish at the Central Park Lake, where he’s apparently caught even bigger fish in the past. George regularly takes trips down from his home in Westchester with his dad.
As Central Park has a catch and release policy, he did not get to take it home with him.

The website also states that one can find Black Crappie, Pumpkinseed Sunfish, Chain Pickerel, Catfish, Bass, Carp, Bluegill Sunfish, and Crayfish in the park.
The NYC Parks website recommends you bring the following on your Central Park fishing expeditions:
- Fishing license (required)
Everyone aged 16 and older needs a fishing license for freshwater fishing. For fishing license information, visit the NYS DEC website. - Lead-free fishing sinkers (required) for ½ ounce or less weights
Lost or discarded lead weights dissolve slowly over time. Exposure to low amounts of lead is toxic to both humans and wildlife. - Non-stainless steel hooks (recommended)
If lost or swallowed by a fish, non-stainless steel hooks will rust, dissolve, and disappear quicker than stainless steel hooks. - Barbless hooks (required for freshwater fishing)
Barbless hooks are easier to remove, causing fewer fish injuries.
