“It flew by. We established a great reputation from that store. We value our partnership with them. We heard from the longest time that we should open a South Shore location,” said Peter.

“The need on the South Shore is long awaited. We stumbled upon this stand-alone storefront at the bottom of Bloomingdale Road. We gave it an overhaul. We gave it a full-service kitchen,” said the fishmonger. He added that a huge demand over the years has merited more cooked seafood selections and prepared eats in the store — seafood salads and oven-ready dishes. Now patrons additionally can pick from a menu of house-made soups like New England clam chowder and lobster bisque.

With a parking lot next to the building, The Cove will be a full-service market specializing in fresh hand-cut fillet, custom cut steak-fish and imported caviar. It will offer whole fish, lobsters, fresh clams, mussels, oysters, and a variety of gulf-white shrimp.

“People thought I was crazy, too, opening in a pandemic. I’m sure any good entrepreneur would say the same thing — you just go forward,” said Peter.

He admitted the biggest challenge in establishing this new spot has been hiring. He said, “The food industry generally, is not an attractive industry because its very labor intensive. So it’s important for retailers how you make it more attractive for the employee. What benefits and perks can we offer to hire and retain them also? That’s something we’re looking at.”

Peter noted, “That’s why it took us so long. It’s all about getting good help.”

Hours of operation at The Cove will be 9 a.m. to 7 pm.. daily and, for the inaugural weekend, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Going forward the shop will close each Sunday and keep the 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. format. The phone number is 718-210-0143 and the soon-live website is Cove2Table.com.

Domazetovski said, “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyon for their countless and tireless hours of support and diligence in helping us arrive at this amazing milestone. Each of you have in some way, contributed to getting us one step closer to this day, and for this, we are eternally grateful.”
