SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The women's rowing team competed at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Saturday.
The varsity eight lineup finished 16th out of 25 boats in their race, finishing with with a time of 12:29.24. The boat was manned by junior Kaitlin Sommer, first-year Jessica Hall, junior Michelle Carney, senior Velvet Howland, junior Natalie Siewek, senior Rebecca Harris, junior Izzy Moyer, junior Veronica Washco, and senior Margaret Carey. Division I Syracuse University won the race with a time of 11:36.62.
The second varsity eight lineup finished 15th out of 25 boats, with a time of 13:21.71. The RIT boat was manned by Claire Schwenke, sophomore Alanna Socha, sophomore Sophia Gorton, sophomore Olivia Henry, graduate student Jonina Yang, junior Evelyn Andersen, senior Lydia Blatnik, sophomore Arden Conybear, and sophomore Mia Leone. That race was taken by Division I Cornell in 11:58.07.
Finally, the novice eight boat finished 14th out of 22 competitors in the novice race with a time of 14:07.61. Tufts won the race with a time of 11:51.89. The novice lineup was made up of first-year Julia Gill, first-year Jessica Hall, first-year Ellen Shepard, Zoe Zeller, Sarah Polek, Madison Gannon, Hallie Allport, Jaden Graham, and Alexis Borzelleri.
The rowing will return to competition on April 1, when they face University of Rochester, Nazareth, and St. John Fisher.
