Brian Dore doubled up on Fish of the Week with a panfish in a largemouth bass’ maw. - Chicago Sun-Times

The way Rose Dore tells it, her husband Brian Dore and his brother Bobby were fishing a pond in Yorkville.

She had me when she emailed, “It was just a pond by some houses—no name.”

But it got better. Brian caught the largemouth bass on a No. 6 hook with a night crawler on “his trusty Zebco” with what looks like a bluegill in its mouth.

“He must have just ate him and then took the bait,” she emailed. “He released both fish. Needless to say, my husband said he can die happy now.”

Without a measuring tape, he measured the fish on a ribbon, which came to 22 inches at home.

“Hope you enjoyed this story, ‘cause he hasn’t stopped talking about it,’’ she concluded.

Come now, that is exactly the kind of story I love.
