In 2020, Fish Stripes founded our own Marlins Hall of Fame. The inaugural class had 16 inductees, including seven outstanding players. Will any more be joining them this year? You decide!
To be eligible for the HOF, players must either be retired or three calendar years removed from participating in their most recent Marlins game. Players must have been active for the Marlins in at least three separate MLB seasons or they must have received substantial write-in support on the previous year’s ballot (like Kevin Brown and Pudge Rodríguez did). Overall, there are 21 player candidates for you to consider for the class of 2021.
Candidates have different thresholds to be elected based on whether they are most closely associated with the Florida Era of Marlins baseball—prior to 2012—or the Miami Era (names listed below with *). The Florida threshold is 70%, whereas the Miami one is 85% to guard against recency bias. The Fish Stripes staff vote and Fish Stripes fan vote are weighted evenly. There is no limit on how many candidates you can vote for.
