The Marlins ignored Ely Sussman’s pleas to extend Brian Anderson before the season, and that may have been for the best. Let’s recalibrate what a fair contract would be for him and begin to eye some third base alternatives who’ll be available this winter.
Enjoy Episode 134!
In the unfortunate scenario that Anderson requires surgery on his left shoulder, the Marlins should pursue a versatile infielder in the mold of Eduardo Escobar or old friend Jonathan Villar. Both are eligible for free agency.
Even if BA is able to fully mend without going under the knife, this frustrating year certainly impacts his market value. My updated recommendation would be that the Marlins approach him with a contract in the four-year, $38 million range with a $12.5 million club option for 2026 ($2 million buyout).
