CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Hunting season is here and Wyoming Game and Fish wants to remind hunters and anglers to read the rules before they leave to hunt or fish on one of the Acces Yes properties.

The Access Yes program has walk-in areas and program manager areas. John Pokallus, the Casper region Access Yes coordinator, said people need a free permission slip to go to the hunter management areas. “Some of these areas only allow so many people on. Others are unlimited but it helps us to keep track of the usage,” Pokallus said.

Landowners get money from Wyoming Game and Fish for allowing people to hunt and fish on their property. Any hunter can access walk-in areas with a valid license. Pokallus adds a common misconception is that Access Yes land is public land. Landowners have full control to allow people to hunt or fish on the property. They also have full control of what’s hunted on their property.

Pokallus adds its great landowners are allowing others on their property because so many are getting into the sport. “One thing we want to remind hunters that are using walk-in areas is that it is private property and you need to make sure you’re being respectful to the land,” Pokallus said.
