Chelan County has free wood chips available for anyone with a shovel, gloves and a vehicle for hauling them away.
The chips are available at three Chelan County brush drop-off sites, including the Leavenworth pit at the intersection of East Leavenworth and Icicle roads, the Chelan Transfer Station and the Dryden Transfer Station.
The Leavenworth pit is open on Fridays only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Chelan Transfer Station is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and the Dryden Transfer Station is open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., also Tuesdays through Saturdays.
The county reminds people that any chips taken from the Leavenworth site must stay within the apple maggot quarantine area.
