Welcome to Friday’s Marlins (55-79, -40 RD) vs. Phillies (69-64, -7 RD) game thread. This homestand kicks off with a Bark at the Park day!
During every Marlins game, join in on the Fish Picks prop bets fun. They give you something to focus on even with the team out of World Series contention. Please use this link!
Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.
The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Congrats to @JJFearnley, who picked a Perfect Game on Thursday.
At the end of each month, the Fish Picks winner—whoever has the percentage of correct picks (among qualifiers)—will receive a hand-painted Trevor Rogers baseball card.
Everybody’s point totals have been reset for the start of September.
Phillies Starting Lineup
- 3B Freddy Galvis
- 2B Jean Segura
- RF Bryce Harper
- 1B J.T. Realmuto
- LF Andrew McCutchen
- CF Matt Vierling
3BRonald TorreyesSS Didi Gregorius- C Rafael Marchan
- RHP Kyle Gibson (2021 season stats: 3.16 ERA, 3.73 FIP, 18.9 K%, 37.9 HardHit% in 150.0 IP)
Notes: Ronald Torreyes was scratched from the lineup for an undisclosed reason...Gibson is in the midst of a career year—you just haven’t noticed because the 33-year-old right-hander had been with the lowly Rangers prior to the trade deadline...Realmuto started at first base on Thursday for only the second time this season. Following Rhys Hoskins’ season-ending surgery, that’s expected to be a more regular occurrence on days when the All-Star isn’t behind the plate.
Marlins Starting Lineup
- 2B Jazz Chisholm Jr.
- SS Miguel Rojas
- 1B Jesús Aguilar
- RF Jesús Sánchez
- CF Lewis Brinson
- C Jorge Alfaro
- 3B Joe Panik
- LF Bryan De La Cruz
- LHP Jesús Luzardo (2021 season stats: 7.19 ERA, 5.92 FIP, 22.0 K%, 39.2 HardHit% in 66.1 IP)
Notes: The Marlins team flight arrived in Miami at 3:05 a.m...Brian Anderson re-aggravated the left shoulder subluxation that sidelined him for most of June and July. There’s obvious concern that this injury could end his season...Don Mattingly announced Thursday that Zach Thompson would be utilized as a reliever for the rest of the season. That all but ensures Luzardo will stay in the rotation indefinitely, depending on if Pablo López is able to make it back from his rotator cuff strain...The most well-rested pitchers available in the Marlins bullpen are Anthony Bass, Paul Campbell, Ross Detwiler, Dylan Floro, Sean Guenther, Zach Pop and Zach Thompson.
