MLB Game Preview & Predictions: Marlins vs Pirates—September 19, 2021 - Fish Stripes

kuaciasing.blogspot.com

Welcome to Sunday’s Marlins (62-86, -45 RD) vs. Pirates (56-92, -204 RD) game thread. The Marlins would be officially eliminated from postseason contention if they lose or if the Braves win against the Giants.

During every Marlins game, join in on the Fish Picks prop bets fun. They give you something to focus on even with the team out of World Series contention. Please use this link!

Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.

The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Nobody picked a Perfect Game on Saturday.

At the end of each month, the Fish Picks winner—whoever has the percentage of correct picks (among qualifiers)—will receive a hand-painted Trevor Rogers baseball card.

Everybody’s point totals have been reset for the start of September.

Pirates Starting Lineup

  1. 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes
  2. SS Kevin Newman
  3. CF Ben Gamel
  4. 1B Colin Moran
  5. C Jacob Stallings
  6. RF Cole Tucker
  7. LF Anthony Alford
  8. 2B Hoy Park
  9. RHP Max Kranick (2021 season stats: 7.66 ERA, 4.78 FIP, 16.0 K%, 37.2 HardHit% in 24.2 IP)
Max Kranick - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: This is the fourth consecutive series that the Pirates have won the first two games. In each of those previous opportunities, though, they have come up short in the finale. In fact, the Bucs haven’t swept a series all season. Sitting two of their most dangerous hitters today, Bryan Reynolds and Yoshi Tsutsugo, won’t help matters.

Marlins Starting Lineup

  1. SS Jazz Chisholm Jr.
  2. CF Bryan De La Cruz
  3. RF Jesús Sánchez
  4. LF Lewis Brinson
  5. 1B Lewin Díaz
  6. 2B Joe Panik
  7. C Alex Jackson
  8. 3B Eddy Alvarez
  9. RHP Sandy Alcantara (2021 season stats: 3.10 ERA, 3.40 FIP, 24.3 K%, 39.5 HardHit% in 188.2 IP)
Sandy Alcantara - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed Baseball Savant

Notes: As excited as we were for Lewis Brinson coming out of the All-Star break, his 2021 hitting stats (.228/.269/.390, 80 wRC+) are now indistinguishable from last season’s (.226/.268/.368, 74 wRC+)...The most well-rested pitchers available out of the Marlins bullpen are Anthony Bass, Anthony Bender, Richard Bleier, Dylan Floro, Steven Okert, Zach Pop and Zach Thompson.
